    • YEIDEP & CYFAEP: A $2.5 Billion Boost for Youth Employment & Economic Growth
Nigeria is taking a bold step to address youth unemployment, poverty, and food insecurity with the launch of the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP). In partnership with the Federal Government (FG) and Youth Off The Street Initiative (YOTSI), this initiative introduces the Cooperative Youth Farmers and Allied Entrepreneurs Programme (CYFAEP), a $2.5 billion global fund aimed at empowering millions of young Nigerians through skills development, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

  •     Why This Initiative Matters
Nigeria faces a youth unemployment crisis, with millions struggling to find meaningful work. Without intervention, this could lead to increased crime, drug abuse, and radicalisation. The YEIDEP programme seeks to change this by providing training, funding, and mentorship in key sectors like:
    •  - Modern agriculture & agribusiness technology
    •  - Food processing & beverage production
    •  - Clean energy solutions (solar power)
    •  - Small-scale business development
By focusing on these areas, CYFAEP aims to create sustainable job opportunities, boost food security, and reduce economic pressures pushing youths into harmful activities.

  •     Key Goals of YEIDEP & CYFAEP
    1. - Train 20 million youths by 2027 (6 million already registered)
    2.  - Promote financial independence through entrepreneurship
    3. - Combat radicalisation by offering alternative livelihood
    4.  - Strengthen local economie with agricultural and clean energy projects

  •  How the Fund Will Be Managed
To ensure transparency, eight major Nigerian banks—including Keystone Bank, Fidelity Bank, and Zenith Bank—will oversee the $2.5 billion fund, ensuring proper disbursement and financial accountability

  •     A Call to Action
Comrade Kennedy Iyere, the project convener, describes YEIDEP as a critical solution to Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges. He urges governments, private sectors, international donors, and individuals to support this initiative, emphasizing that youth empowerment is key to national stability.
